How to help
GHAP is organized into teams. Team descriptions are below and on our online signup tool.
Volunteer Coordination: manages the recruitment, selection and orientation of new volunteers.
Development: responsible for the development and implementation of the annual fund raising plan including the planning and execution of fund raising events and grants.
Communications: creates and implements a multi-faceted program designed to build and strengthen GHAP's visibility and role as a health care consulting organiztion for underserved populations in low resource countries.
Consultant: partners with overseas health system administrators to enhance their practices in governance, leadership and management. Individuals with subject matter expertise in multiple disciplines may participate by providing local support or traveling overseas. Experienced health administrators serve as volunteer GHAP consultants. GHAP consultants are sent in teams of two with a person who is familiar with the Client. On-site involvement is approximately 2 weeks per year, with ongoing communication between visits. Consultants volunteer their time to prepare for and conduct the consultation, prepare recommendations and reports, and maintain contact with the Client and GHAP. Culture-specific orientation is provided to each volunteer.
In addition to online sign-up opportunities, GHAP works with Experienced Resources to match volunteer consultants with GHAP's needs. In 2012, an affiliation between GHAP and Experienced Resources occurred due to an immediate connection between the mission and vision of the two organizations and the underlying theme of fulfilling lives and making a difference. Founded in 2005, Experienced Resources, LLC, matches health care leaders with 20+ years of experience to special projects or interim management assignments throughout the state of MN and western WI in the areas of clinic, hospital, and payor operations. Experienced Resources provides health care organizations immediate leadership support to accomplish critical work. They achieve this by carefully matching the client's needs to their team of experiences leaders and supporting the engagement from start to finish. Through its database of experienced health care leaders and unique talent matching process, Experienced Resources provides pro bono support to GHAP to attract, assess, and match the right volunteer talent for GHAP's ongoing ventures into developing countries.
